A BETTER WAY TO RENT HINDI DVDS

Reviewed by Bruce Cantwell

NETFLIX has changed the way I rent DVDs. Instead of making two trips to the video store for each movie I rent (to select a video and return it) I now make 0 trips.

I pick the movies I want at the Netflix site and they arrive in my mailbox.

Getting a good movie in the mail (instead of just the regular bills and junk mail) is fun, especially when NETFLIX pays postage both ways.

Before NETFLIX, when I got it in my head that I wanted to watch a movie, I would go to the video store and it might be in, it might not. If it wasn't, I'd try to find something else and make a bad decision about forty percent of the time.

I much prefer adding movies to my NETFLIX queue when I'm in the mood to cluelessly wandering the aisles of a video store when I'm NOT! When I check the new releases for the a-movie-to-see newsletter, I add it to my queue while I'm still thinking about it instead of wracking my brains staring at the ceiling trying to remember the title while I'm in the store.

NO DUE DATES OR LATE FEES

Since so many DVDs are loaded with extra materials including documentaries and commentary tracks, sometimes they take more than one evening to explore. Since there are no due dates or late fees, I can take as long as I want to view each DVD. Sometimes I pass it along to friends and let them pop it in the mail. When NETFLIX receives it, they send the next movie in my queue.

BEST SELECTION

Thanks to revenue sharing deals with most of the major and independent studios (DreamWorks, 20th Century Fox, Universal Studios, Artisan Entertainment, Columbia TriStar Home Video, Lions Gate Films, Shooting Gallery, USA Films and Warner Home Video) NETFLIX gets its hands on plenty of copies of the latest releases but they don't stop there.

NETFLIX has a better DVD selection of independent films, documentaries, family films, foreign films, and classics than any store I know.

LOW FLAT FEE - ALL YOU CAN WATCH

Since I usually rented only a few DVDs a month, I initially balked at the 19.95 monthly fee. I wasn't in the habit of renting that many movies: maybe four a month. But since I no longer need to make a special trip to the video store and Netflix has far more movies I want to watch, it has proven to be a real entertainment bargain.

For instance, Dish Network allows you to choose two movie channels (say HBO and Showtime) for 19.95 per month in addition to basic programming fees. NETFLIX has more movies than all of the movie channels COMBINED.
